Privacy Policy
SocialMarks lets you save social posts and turn them into a searchable knowledge base you can ask questions of. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers socialmarks.ai and the app at app.socialmarks.ai. SocialMarks is operated from Ontario, Canada.
Information we collect
- Account. Your email address. We sign you in with a one-time code sent to your email, so we never ask for or store a password.
- Content you save. The links you save, the text and media pulled from those posts, the collections you build, and the questions you ask about them.
- Payment. If you subscribe, Stripe processes your card. We store your subscription status and plan, not your card number.
- Usage and diagnostics. Basic product analytics (pages viewed, features used) and error reports, so we can fix problems and improve the app.
How we use your information
- Run the service: store your saves, generate summaries, answer your questions.
- Sign you in and keep your account secure.
- Process payments and manage your subscription.
- Send account email such as sign-in codes and billing notices.
- Understand what works so we can improve the product.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.
AI processing
To summarize your saves and answer your questions, the content you save is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (the maker of Claude). Anthropic processes this content to return a result to you and does not use it to train its models. AI output can be wrong or incomplete, so treat it as a starting point rather than fact.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of providers to run SocialMarks. Each receives only the data needed for its job.
- Supabase — database and sign-in.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Anthropic — AI summaries and answers.
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Resend — account and billing email.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Sentry — error monitoring.
Most of these providers store data on servers in the United States, so your information may be processed there.
Cookies and analytics
We use a cookie to keep you signed in. For analytics we use PostHog to measure pageviews and feature use. We do not record your screen or sessions, and we do not run advertising or cross-site tracking.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Billing page. Deleting your account removes your saved content and account record from our systems. Backups and provider logs may retain copies for a short period before they age out.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export, or delete your data. Most of this you can do in the app. For anything else, email us and we will help.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and trusted providers to protect your data. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to keep your information safe.
Children
SocialMarks is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. When we do, we will revise the date above. Significant changes will be announced in the app or by email.
